A girl had been visiting small villages in India with her father since childhood, which developed a passion in her towards the incredible talent involved in Indian handicraft. She had witnessed the poor condition of indigenous Indian artisans who have amazing skills and knowledge. She admired their creativity that represents the culture and heritage of the country. She had a successful career in the field of software testing after completing her postgraduate degree in the UK but she decided to quit the job and start her own business to fulfill her desire to work for those artisans and to introduce their unexplored talent to the rest of world.
A boy from Delhi, India came to England after his graduation with dreams to develop his own world with his entrepreneurial skills. He loves to travel, explore and research about the hidden art and talent in his home country. He had seen tourists taking the interest in Indian handicrafts since childhood. He knew that handicraft is a medium to preserve the rich heritage and culture of India.
Common interest drew them closer in the UK and the couple started STYLLA LONDON in 2011 to introduce the rich Indian heritage and artistic value of Indian handicraft through e-commerce/online marketing to the rest of the world.
Indian handicraft industry is labor intensive, cottage based and decentralized, mostly located in small villages with the lack of facilities like electricity, water etc. STYLLA LONDON aims to be a catalyst to create numerous jobs to improve the artisan’s livelihood while preserving their culture and heritage.
